Hello Beginning Band Families!
We had a great first rehearsal! We spent our time practicing putting our instruments together and making some sound. Before we meet again on Monday, I asked them to show you how to put their instrument together and make sound on it at home.
There are a few things I would like you and your student to keep in mind moving forward:
- Make sure they open their instrument case on the floor; if it's already on the floor, it can't fall and be broken.
- Nothing should be forced to be put together. Small twists/pushes/pulls are ideal. If something gets stuck, they can bring it to me.
- So you can help your student take proper care of their instrument, this website from REW Music has videos for instrument care: https://www.rewmusic.
net/t-caremaintenance.aspx - We will be starting to work out of the Standard of Excellence Book One (red cover). They will need their own book for their instrument so they can write in it.
This is a great group of students and I'm looking forward to the upcoming rehearsals!
