Band Update 9/3

Rehearsals are starting next week. Beginning Band rehearses on Mondays and Wednesdays starting at 7:25, and Intermediate Band rehearses on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:25. Please help your student be ready to go for rehearsal. They will need their instrument in good playing condition, instrument accessories, and the red Standard of Excellence book 1 for their instrument. 

For those in Beginning Band, if you have not yet decided on an instrument, now is the time to help them make a choice. I highly recommend visiting a local music store and asking to try instruments. REW Music on 87th Street in Lenexa is my music store of choice. They will let your student try every instrument they have. Whichever one they feel the most confident about and can get an initial sound on is their best choice. Please email me if you have any questions or need assistance in picking an instrument. If your student doesn't know how to put together their instrument, that is task number one for our first rehearsal!
Finally, if you indicated to be added to a shared Google calendar with band rehearsal/performance dates and/or to get connected with a high school band director, I will be working on that this week.
