Reminders:

GREAT WAYS TO HELP AT HOME!

• Practice typing 15 min. a night. Go to abcya.com, 5th grade, and do Keyboard Invasion.             
   Another good keyboarding site is Will Rogers Mat Dance Typing 

• Practice multiplication/division facts 

• read out loud together

• build with legos or toss a ball around with each other

• play cards or board games

What We're Doing Now: 

Our year has started on a great note!  This is such an amazing class- I am so excited for this year!

Math- We are beginning with adding and subtracting- but it's more intense than in the past.  We are learning the addition properties and how to use them as well as rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000- tricky stuff!.
Science- fWe will do a unit over matter and then transition into cycles on earth (water)
English- We are discussing good study skills and habits to get into and then will learn about sentences, paragraphs and stories
Social Studies-- We start with communities
Reading- Each week we will discuss a different genre and we are focusing this year on comprehension skills to help us in all the subject areas..
Religion- How our Church is One is our first unit.  We will read different scripture passages and learn how the church and all people are the same all over the world.  We will also be learning how to locate bible stories in the bible.

HERE IS OUR SCHEDULE- it is very helpful is appointments can be scheduled around our specials to avoid having missed class time.
